Cultivating Authentic Relationships for Professional Advancement

Dr. Julie Huang is on a mission to enable scientific breakthroughs and cultivate inclusive communities to forge a diverse, empowered generation in STEM. A tenacious woman in science and first-generation low-income student, she defied the odds in becoming an accomplished scientist with a PhD from Stanford and a BS from Caltech. Today, she stands at the forefront of the life sciences most recently as a staff scientist at Alector Inc., where she lead teams in orchestrating scientific strategies for clinical trials that hold promise in transforming the treatment landscape for neurodegenerative disease. Prior to Alector, Dr. Huang was a lead scientist at Caribou Biosciences, where she conducted pioneering studies on CRISPR-engineered microbes, envisioning novel avenues for combatting cancer, and she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Amgen, Inc.’s Inflammation and Oncology Department. A strong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, Dr. Huang uses her journey to mentor and inspire those from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM, guiding them in designing authentic, meaningful careers.
